I So Win

Yep. look at me go. I am blogging today.
I know what you are saying, “You haven’t in forever and we missed you and you said you were going to all the time!!!” Well, I have been busy and have forgotten the old blog, or when I have thought about it I just never get around to it.
Work is going great. Been here two months now and have to say there has been no stress and I love it. I do what I want, how I want to do it, when I want to do it hehe. I would say it’s the perfect job but it does have its little quirks, which I am perfectly fine with. I will not complain.
So what else is going on? Lots of stuff with the station. Free to Play is about to hit and we are trying to be ready for that. Website redesign. I tweaked all the music on the Subspace Radio and Eve Radio jukeboxes. So much has been going on so you can tell why I haven’t been blogging. I would love to say I will do better but I would be lying. I will try to do better? Does that work?
I also got back into playing World of Warcraft. I only get to play two times a week, and I wouldn’t really even call it playing. I get in-game, maybe do a dungeon, or I stand around wondering what to do lol. So yes I still play it like I always did. My playing buddies are working all the time so as I am off nightly, they are typically at work. When they play I am working lol. But we will get to play.
But, I am gonna get back to work and head out of here in about 10 minutes. Looking forward to the weekend. Have had a few meetings this week and done a lot of research so I am a tad worn out.
Anyway, I will be back soon (ish) hehe.
Yawn… Kinda

Only reason I yawn is I am tired.
Seems I have neglected my blog but I do have good reason. It the new job. Am I complaining? Heck no.
Last weekend we did a huge server migration putting everything we have in a virtual environment. I learned quite a bit. Between Friday and Monday I put in 40+ hours. Saying I was work out isn’t the half of it hehe. This weekend we have another migration to do. It is gonna be a lot of fun.
I am really enjoying the job though. I won’t lie. I do a lot of sitting around. Not always something to do. I said something about it to my predecessor today and his response, “Study, learn, play Mafia Wars :)” Yes that was his actual comment. I was like ok cool. I’m not going to complain. I get told I am doing a great job and it is nice to be appreciated. And I am re-learning quite a bit, and learning some new stuff. So why complain? No reason to.
So in two weeks I am getting to go to my first Star Trek convention in Chicago. I am more than excited. I am stoked. Meeting up with 4 of the DJ’s from my station. It is going to be a lot of fun. I am just happy to be going. Will I try to meet famous people? Of course. I plan on handing out my business cards for the station and lining out some interviews. But mostly I am looking forward to hanging out with my DJ’s. They all work hard and have done a lot to keep us going the past year that I have run the station. Heck, I guess I will have to buy them a drink.
Going to take lots of pictures, do some live broadcasting from there. We also have some other things in store that I will save for when we get back. Can’t give away all the secrets. Two weeks from today I will be heading out. Can’t get here soon enough.
That’s it for now. Going to wind down and play me some games now. First time I have set down at my computer in almost 2 weeks. How time flies when you are having fun.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Well I went into work yesterday and have to say I was told a lot. I am really hoping I am able to retain half of it at least hehe. But it was great.
I have a roomy office area and everyone I met seems great. I am going to have to get used to the amount of control I will have. It has been a while. But I have already been digging and looking up things so it is slowly coming back to me.
One thing I am really liking is the guy I have replaced, he left for another job but is staying part time to help me out, were talking and I said you know I would like to do this and he said that sounds like a great idea and I think you should do it. It was a great feeling to have someone recognize you have a good idea and agree you should do it. Has been a while since I have had that too. So this job is going to be great.
Going to take a bit to get up to speed and I have just learned a little so far but that’s ok. Can’t learn it all in one day.
I am looking forward to the work even more now. I have so many ideas in my head and have already been told that what I want to do will be ok. I am the man hehe.

And We Are Go For Launch

Don’t ask me where I get some of these post titles. Never know what to put really lol.
Well my last day at the city was today. Kind of glad I left but at the same time I will miss some folks. Made some good friends. Everyone who cared wished me well and congratulated me. Said my new job sounds like a great match for me. I have to agree.
Was going to start Tuesday but am actually going in tomorrow to start learning the ropes. Being the only IT guy there is a lot for me to know about. I don’t want to go in not knowing anything on Tuesday so I offered to go in this weekend and start figuring things out. I am pretty excited about it.
On another note watched The Last Starfighter tonight. Good movie and I recommend it if you haven’t seen it. Old 80′s movie but a good one. I think I will watch the Beverly Hills Cop movies next. haven’t seen those in forever. Then maybe 48 hours. I really like the old Eddie Murhpy movies hehe. Listening to JayGatz’s show on http://subspace-radio.net and he is playing 89′s so that is probably why I am on the 80′s movie kick hehe.
But I better hit the hay. Big day tomorrow and need to get some shut eye. Night muh few peeps who follow me so far. :)
One Day and Counting

Well I have one day left at the current job and then three days off and then I start my new job. Can’t wait. Well I have to wait hehe
So I did a show tonight on http://subspace-radio.net and was very happy with the results.Listener counts were very good. Understand being the Station Manager I somewhat stress over listener counts. And stress is putting it lightly hehe. But they were very good and I had very good feedback on my show. I always have a good time and really need to get back to doing a regular show. Kinda miss being on every week. Once things slow back down and I get back into a regular routine I think I will do that.
I hung out in vent with some of the DJ’s during the show and had a great time as always. Other than one of them rambling on and on and on. Hehe. But it was fun.
So after my show I hung out in the staff channel and did some graphics editing, web editing, and picking on the new peeps. They love me, what can I say. Well they do when I am not yelling at them hehe.
So now it is time for bed. Three day weekend then it is new job for Scotty boy. Going to be doing what I have been working towards for a while and really looking forward to it.

And A New Dawn Begins

So I like the title. Ok it is borrowed from somewhere not sure where but I like it so that is what matters hehe.
Well as promised I wanted to share with everyone about my new job. I have had to be quiet about it because I didn’t want to share to much because I didn’t want to jeopardize anything and I wanted to wait until everything was official. Seeing as I signed my offer letter today I guess it is about as official as it can get. :)
I have been hired on as the IT Support specialist for Fintube, LLC in Tulsa. Notice I said the IT Support Specialist? That is because I am being hired on to take care of all their IT needs. The company is 50 – 60 employees and basedin Tulsa. My responsibilities will range all the way from server support to desktop support. I will handle it all. Of course I will have some help as they contract with a managed IT provider but I will call them if I need them, for the most part it is me that handles everythiong, a one man shop in other words. So I get to decide what is done how, when, why, what, where, and everything. I won’t have to depend on others.
Those that know me will understand why I am so excited for this position. Over my 12 years in IT I have worked in all aspects of IT. And I have enjoyed all of it. This position gives me the opportunity to use all the things I have learned and will make sure everyday is different. It isn’t too big of a company to where I won’t know my users, but not too small where I am sitting with nothing to do. But I will have the freedom to do what I enjoy best, and that is IT.
So I am really looking forward to this opportunity and plan on staying as long as they will have me. Tuesday is the big day. I sat down with the folks at the City today and while they are upset that I am leaving they understand. My current boss said they are taking a huge step back losing me, but he understands totally. I hate to leave as I have made some great friends, but this is a better fit for me.
I will keep everyone posted as I go along.

Coding and More Coding – I am Code Monkey?

Yep did some coding today. But I am far from Code Monkey. Of course if you know me you know I didn’t write the code. I took existing code and made some changes and made it work to what I needed. I am not a coder at all lol. But I was successful and got done what I needed done.
Today has been interesting. I have been moved at work to a quieter desk hehe. I was told it is so I can be in a quieter area to work on stuff and not be disturbed, and that I will not be having to work the phones much longer. I have also been given a new computer. I haven’t brought up that I have accepted another job just yet. Of course I am waiting on my official start date before I do, it is just interesting that for some reason it seems I am all of a sudden being appreciated a little at my job after months of not being treated very well. Oh well. All the checks and things were finished today and am just waiting on the company I am joining to submit some paperwork. I am excited. This will put me back where I was 2 years ago financially, but doing the job I have wanted to do for quite some time. To say I am excited is an understatement. I think I have said that before hehe.
But now that my little pea brain hurts from staring at code most of the night I think I will go to bed. But I thought I would share this video I ran across tonight. It’s Leonard Nimoy so of course I like it. It is great to see him in a funny light. Believe me when you watch this you will look at Nimoy in a whole new perspective, I know I do. He is a character for doing this video.

Things To Come

Well been sitting at home today. Gracy is sick so I stayed home with her. Fever and cough is what she has had so we have been sitting around watching cartoons and just hanging out. Not much else to do.
Planning a trip to Chicago at the end of the month for a Star Trek Convention. Looking forward to it as it will be my first one. Going to be meeting up with abnout 6-7 peeps from the station so it should be a really fun time. I actually can’t wait. It’s not the Vegas Convention, but Nimoy will be there and supposedly this will be his last convention ever, although he said that bout a year ago. Hoping to get a few interviews in and meet some of the actors and what now. Will definately be a blast. That and meet some of the people I have been working with over the past year at the station will be the best part.
Waiting on the job front to line out. I have gotten my job offer, just waiting on the checks and what not to finish out so I can find out when I start. I am ready to close the book on the current job and move on to this one. The new job has so many great possibilities and will let me do all the things I have studied for and wanted to do over my career. To say it is the perfect job for me is putting it lightly. Once I start I will put out more info, like where and what the job actually consists of.
Well I think it’s time to go watch a little tv with the fam. Lacy will be getting home from workhere pretty soon. So that means dinner time and who knows what else.
Let me know what you think of the blog. Been spending a lot of time over the past few days getting it how I want it, maybe not where I want it totally just yet, but I am at least having fun with it.

Lazy Sunday – Kinda

Well I have been sitting here all day doing what I was told not to and working on station stuff hehe. I am supposed to be taking a break because of my job change in progress and because I was told I had to take a break.
Been playing with the blog of course. I think I might have it how I like it now. Then again I will probably start messing with it tomorrow or something. I have spent who knows how long today just to go back to almost the same design I had lol.
On a sad note one of our DJ’s is hanging uo the mic today. TymmyD. I hate to see him go but I know he is going to still be around, and I really hope he decided to do a show every now and then. His send off was really good and gave me some props. I appreciate it but let me tell ya TymmyD and the rest of the gang are hella talented. But Tymmy, hate to see you go, but glad you aren’t leaving totally.
Well I think I will go watch a movie with the fam now. Mars Needs Aliens sounds good, or some House, or who knows.
New Blog

Well I decided to join the slew of others and start doing a blog so here it. 6-7 hours later and I am tried of looking at the computer screen.
Anyway I am going to take a stab at the blogging thing again. So what will you find here? Me just randomly going on about stuff with my station (http://www.subspace-radio.net) or anything else I can think of.
I have added and removed tons of plugins and think I have everything how I want it. And best part is I only broke the page once and was able to fix it pretty quick hehe. Which if you know me that is kind of a shocker. It’s not that I don’t know how to do stuff, but I don’t know how to do stuff and I try anyway. So I generally have a lot of backups around as I know I will most likely need them.
But I am not off to get some much needed sleep. So check it out often here, never know what I will be up to.
